Wild about Wire
Wire is another of my passions that originates from line. Wire is a line that can be manipulated into all sorts of wonderful three dimensional objects. In my case jewelry. I thought that I'd post a few of the things that I've made out of wire over the years, some of which are for sale at the 253 Collective in Tacoma.
I made all the wire beads by hand as well as the links and closures. Then I wove the glass beads into the pendants and bracelets as I worked. I find the whole process to be quite relaxing, like knitting or crochet. But a bit harder on the hands.
I tend to work in cycles. I'll draw or paint, then do calligraphy--more lines--and then work in wire or do beading or make books which is another blog altogether. But somehow working with different materials in different ways feeds back and forth between all the ways I work and the things I like to make. It's confusing--sometimes even to me--but I keep finding quotes that talk about creative chaos preceding order--and I do find that is the way that creativity happens for me. So I'll just keep creating chaos and seeing what happens. The joy is in the journey.
